just another day at clinic

At clinic yesterday, a guy came in because he broke his glasses and he ended up having a HUGE visual field loss and significantly advanced glaucoma!!! It was quite an experience to discover... the attending doctor explained to the patient that if he doesn't come in and get it treated, he will go completely blind. i hope he understood.... he wasn't someone who was very interested in taking care of his health. The exam went well overall, and when i looked at the back of his eye at his completely atrophied nerve head, i was proud of myself that i didn't exclaim 'OH MY GOD' or start hyperventilating. It was crazy!! It really made everything we are studying become reality fast. And gave me confidence about my intuition in clinic.

When i got home from clinic there were flowers on my doorstep from Paul. It's actually a potted lily plant... with a note that said 'just because'. He's so adorable...and i'm so lucky. we're going out to dinner tonight with some friends to a fondu restaurant. You thought they left fondu in the 70's, huh? Well, like everything else, it came back into fashion and there's a whole restaurant dedicated to it. I'm excited, it's a chance to dress up, which is always fun.

This weekend I'm going down to Eugene with Paul, Dave and his wife, because Dave is doing a bike race, and he talked me into racing too. It's not too long, about 22 miles, and i'm not going to do very good but i just want to have fun. should be interesting....

Oh goodness, i'm so tired... i just want a break for a little bit. In less than two weeks i'll be in Las vegas for that conference... that's going to be an exciting and exhausting week. More than usual, anyway....

Well, that's all for now... there may be some pictures to come!
